Song: Be Still & Know
Key: C Key & Eb Key
This mini lesson is going to open up for you some fantastic ways to play the Open 10th Feel Technique.
I will show you a variety of ways to play the Open 10th Feel and how you can apply different variations of the Open 10th Feel to fit the melody of the song.
You will learn the following Open 10th Feel Variations:
1. Quiet Open 10th
2. Open 10th Walk Down
3. Open 10th Walk Up
4. Open 10th Harmonic Run
If you apply only one Open 10th throughout the song, you might find it very monotonous. So in this mini lesson, you are going to learn how to vary a technique to fit the melody. In this way, you will learn how to do the same to many other songs. This applies not just to Be Still & Know but to hundreds and thousands of songs.
Here are some major guidelines for you to follow:
- For a one beat note, Open 10th fits perfectly.
- For a two beat note, use the Open 10th Walk Down
- When the melody tone is a 10th above the chord tones, use the Open 10th Walk Up
- At the end of the song, use the Open 10th Harmonic Run.
